South Korean consumer good major LG Household & Healthcare has developed a body care brand with products featuring well-known skin care ingredients like niacinamide, low-molecular weight collagen, peptides, and polyhydroxy acids (PHA).

The company recently launched B.Clinicx in multi-brand health and beauty retailer Olive Young with four body care products.

According to the firm, the consumer response to the range have been “warm” and it is set to launch one more product in May.

The products range from KRW27,500 (USD20) to KRW29,900 (USD22) and were developed to provide solutions “tailored to skin concerns of each body part”.

For instance, its Brightening Body Lotion was developed to brighten dull and uneven skin tone and targets issues like darkened elbows and knees with 5% niacinamide.

According to the brand, it is a gel formulation with a refreshing lemon scent to enhance comfort for warm summer weather.

Packed with hero ingredients

Additionally, the brand also launched a product targeting rough and dry skin. The Polishing Body Lotion pairs 5% PHA with betaine and five kinds of hyaluronic acid for a product that exfoliates and the skin while keeping it hydrated.

It can also help with keratosis pilaris (KP), a common skin condition which causes small bumps across the skin.

B.Clinicx also launched with two products targeting skin elasticity in the bust and buttocks respectively.

The Bust Beauty Firming Cream contains low-molecular weight collagen and 5% Volufiline. The latter is an ingredient from Sederma which claims to have a plumping effect by stimulating adipose tissue growth, enhancing volume and contour in targeted areas.

The Bum Bum Serum contains 11 types of peptides and low-molecular weight collagen to improve skin density and elasticity. It also claims to help with pigmentation.

The latest product is the Gua Sha Massage Cream developed to relieve swelling and improve blood circulation of swelling calves with 0.2% magnesium sulphate and escin.

The product was designed with a gua sha massage head designed to fit the curves of the calves for easy and effective massaging.

The company is set to launch it mid-May, in time for the summer season.

Category growth

Market research firm Mintel has previously identified ingredients-led body care products as a growing opportunity in South Korea.

It noted that key ingredients like sodium hyaluronate, panthenol, ceramides, and niacinamide have the potential to become prominent in body care, mirroring their popularity in facial care.

LG H&H rival Amorepacific has also recently launched targeted body care products that focus on well-known skin care ingredients.

This includes a line under its derma beauty brand Illiyoon, which focuses on sensitive skin concerns.

Launched late April, the three-piece body care range targets troubled skin and issues such as back acne with 2% salicylic acid and centella asiatica, commonly known as cica.

The line’s key product, a body mist, claims to be able to reduce blemishes in seven days.

At the start of April, Amorepacific’s personal care brand Happy Bath also launched a body wash and a back mask to tackle back acne with ingredients such as tea tree, cica, and niacinamide.
