Mintel: a gallery of US color cosmetic innovations
The US color cosmetics category has grown slowly between 2008 and 2013, rising by 13% roughly over the period. While tough economic conditions may have hampered growth, it appears that the highly crowded and competitive nature of the category is the primary culprit.
According to Shannon Romanowski, beauty & personal care analyst, right through to 2018, the category is expected to see continued slow growth, gaining roughly 2-3% on a yearly basis.
“Despite relatively slow growth between 2008 and 2013, women are wearing makeup and looking for tools to help them navigate the category," she says.
In terms of innovation Romanowski says the segment ultimately saw expanded education efforts combined with products that deliver improved performance and ease of use suggests room for future growth.
Here; with Mintel, we have put together a gallery of the innovations launched in the last year.
