Snail slime becomes old hat as horse oil takes precedence in Korea's Seoul
Regional expert Florence Bernardin tells CosmeticsDesign-Asia.com that these ingredients are starting to replace demand for snail slime or the likes of bee or snake venom based formulations in Korea's skin care products.
Take for example, horse oil which has long been used in the region for its' moisturising properties is being viewed in a new way in 2015, thanks to innovation in the area for new age treatments.
Florence points our attention to a Japanese research article "馬油による皮膚の保湿効果の検討" published in Nishinihon Journal of Dermatology, Vol.66; No.6; pp. 621-624 (2004): "The moisturizing effect on the skin from horse oil resembles the fatty acid composition of human sebum and contains a large amount of linolic acid."
Meanwhile donkey milk in cosmetics is ideal as the vitamin A present is crucial for cell membrane recovery and facilitates skin regeneration, while goats milk is being sought after for dry skin formulations.
